A doctor will visit a patient in their home following the morning surgery if, after talking to the patient, they feel this is the most appropriate action. Home visits do take more time than a consultation in the surgery and so will only be arranged for patients who are unable to attend surgery themselves or who are unable to travel by taxi or arrange transport from a friend or family member.
All requests for home visits that day need to be received before 12.00pm. Where possible, the doctor requested by the patient will attend to the visit, but this cannot be guaranteed. For urgent calls after 12.00pm, if the doctor feels a home visit is needed this will be done by the doctor on call.
